Description
Finished in August 2020, One of a Kind, Masterpiece by Pueblo Artist Jacob N. Warner, an enrolled member of Old Laguna Pueblo, N.M. This is entirely hand carved, hand painted, wood burned highlights and natural Sleeping Beauty Turquoise on the base. This sculpture is made of cottonwood root, carved 360 degrees around the entire piece, and from top to bottom it appears to unfold layer after layer. The artist is in the "Zone" when he is carving, thinking about home, Old Laguna, family & friends and his journey through Life and where it has taken him. Jacob is a devout Christian and will tell you his inspiration comes from God first and if it were not for Christ Jesus he would not be here doing what he does and has done his entire life. He is a professional artist, both a painter and carver and has been able to make a living doing his art. His work is highly collectible and he has sold to all the whose-who in the business. This piece actually should be in a museum. The pottery (10) all have Laguna pottery designs and it is his way of recording history for his People. The kachinas and female Water Carriers are in traditional dress and his colors are his. Jacob mixes his own paints and does not feel bound to one way. There is a Long Hair Kachina, a Mud Head and the Women Water Carriers, the story goes on and on. There are also (2) separate pieces each hand carved from cottonwood that can be placed within the sculpture, a ladder and a wooden pot. This piece measures: 22 inches without the base, the base is 2 inches, a total of 24 inches. The piece is signed under the base by the artist and dated 2020. We buy direct from the artist here in Show Low, AZ where Jacob is currently in studio. We ship in 1 business day, Priority Mail, insured & signature confirmation.
